Blood Pressure Monitor Reviews

Panasonic EW3111W Precise Logic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor

This upper arm blood pressure monitor comes from Panasonic, which is one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of consumer electronics companies. It is described as follows:

Precise logic upper arm blood pressure monitor technology accurately measures systolic/diastolic blood pressure and pulse rate. Large color-coded LCD informs of blood pressure category based on World Health Organization standard for hypertension, normal high or normal readings, while flashing figure alerts of hypertension zone. 21-memory capacity for two persons. Comes with cuff holder and carry handle.

Unfortunately, it is seldom possible to find objective reviews of blood pressure monitors on the internet.

Amazon.com has some useful consumer reviews of the Panasonic EW3111W. Here’s one, from a user who rated it five stars (out of five):

It is accurate as long as the cuff is put on correctly according to the instructions on the cuff. I tested consecutive readings and they are close. I tested on family members and friends and I get consistent readings for each person. The cuff can actually give a good squeeze on the arm, which I think is good for a battery-powered unit.

It is very convenient as it's portable enough to carry around with you. I'm still on the original batteries for about a month now despite moderate use. I thought that it'd be better to have an AC adapter, but the batteries make it very convenient to carry around and use. It's easy to operate as others have said- just push the big yellow button.

A few other things: it is somewhat a big unit; it can sit on the table while you get your reading. The unit I got was made in China and seems to be of good quality. There's the shortcoming of the mentioned lack of date/time stamp, but I think the relatively low price makes up for that.

And another (also five stars):

I just got this monitor but it’s simple and easy. It comes with good instructions and tells you exactly where to place it on your arm. It can be used right or left, sitting or laying down and remembers 21 checks for two different people although I use the chart it came with to write down my weight and what reading it gives. It has lights that are red, yellow and green that come on when done but I always look at the screen although it’s nice to look over and see the green lights. I take medication for my blood pressure and I trust in the Panasonic name. This monitor also has a holder on the back so everything is nice and neat. I’m no expert but for the average Joe like me its great.
